Like the AA'BA' composition performance, I feel that I've also improved my performance in playing 믿어요 song. Although this song isn't related to the lesson at school, practicing playing a song is necessary to improve my skill in playing flute so that I won't encounter much difficulties at instrument class.

#11 - AA'BA' Music Composition (2nd Practice)
I feel that this practice is much better than the previous one because on this practice I tried to be calm. However, I stilll need to improve my performance because sometimes I didn't follow the tempo. The assessment is in a week so I should take more practices.
#10 Practice Video - d minor (natural, harmonic, melodic)
It was the first time I played d minor scales. I like this practice because I didn't do any mistakes while pressing the notes.
#9 Practice Video - b minor (natural, harmonic, melodic)
On the video it is obviously seen that I haven't mastered playing b minor scales. It should be understood because it was the first time I played b minor scales by flute. I should practice more if I want to master it.
#8 Practice Video - G Major, D Major, A Major Pentatonic
This practice is one of the practices that I think I play the flute fluently. I feel good with this practice because I've never learnt how to play G Major, D Major, and A Major pentatonic at instrument class. I just played the pentatonics by doing research first.
#7 Practice Video - c minor (natural, harmonic, melodic)
On this practice, I didn't mispress any notes although I haven't been fluent to play the scales.
#6 Practice Video - AA'BA' Music Composition (1st practice)
This is my first time practicing my music composition after it's converted into 32 bars. I feel that the practice I did was messed up because I was in a rush. I realize that I should be calm when both practicing and performing.
#5 Practice Video - TVXQ!_東方神起 - 믿어요 (3)
This is my 3rd time practicing 믿어요 song. Indeed that I mispressed some notes, however I think I've improved my performance if compared to the 2nd practice. I should take more practices so I can play this song fluently.
#4 Practice Video - e minor scale (natural, harmonic, melodic)
Actually I've never learnt how to play e minor scale during the instrument class. Moreover, I before I took practice I didn't understand what's the difference of natural, harmonic, and melodic. However, since I really wanted to try e minor scale then I did some research. By the research I understand the difference between natural, harmonic, and melodic scales. Speaking of the performance I did on the video, I didn't mispress any of the notes, but I sometimes stopped when I forgot what note I had to press.
#3 Practice Video - Oriental (A Major) & Javanese Pentatonic
I've practiced playing Oriental and Javanese pentatonic at instrument class although it is only 2 - 4 times. I practiced the pentatonics well and I didn't mispress any note. I should practice on other pentatonics.
#2 Practice Video - B♭Major Scale
I've practiced using B♭major scale. Before I practiced the scale, I need to take a look on my fingering index book because I forgot the fingerings for B♭major scale. However, I think I did it well on this practice. Besides, my speed skill in C major scale has also improved.
#1 Practice Video - F Major Scale
This is my video practicing F major scale at home. I've practiced using F major scale a lot so that's why I think that is the reason my performance on the video wasn't really messed up. In the beginning of the video, I've also improved my speed skill in C scale.
Daily Reflection – November 29th, 2011
THEORY CLASS
Mr. Herry distributed Music Development Workbook (MDW) for term 2. Before we fill on the booklet, Mr. Herry announced our marks for MDW in term 2. I got 8 out of 8 for the assignment. I feel proud and make my mark for last term as motivation for giving better effort in MDW for this term. Around 20 minutes before dismissal time, Mr. Herry asked all woodwind students to perform their music composition rehearsal. I got the first time. I didn’t feel nervous at that time because I kept thinking it was just rehearsal so there’s nothing to worry about. However, I pressed wrong notes a lot. I have to use the time given on the music class tomorrow to practice my performance. I also have to practice more at home. Before we are dismissed, Mr. Herry showed us a video about John Lennon. I didn’t pay attention to the video because I was filling on the MDW, so I don’t know what the video actually shows regarding on John Lennon.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
There was no instrument class because all the time provided was used for theory class. However, Mr. Herry promised us to provide more time for instrument class so we can practice our music composition performance.
Daily Reflection – November 23rd, 2011
THEORY CLASS
I watched my classmates rehearse their music composition. However, woodwind class students didn’t get the chances to rehearse the music composition, so I have to be ready to perform my music composition performance rehearsal on the next meeting.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
I practiced my music composition and I also revised my blowing and fingering. I still need to practice my own music composition at home.
Daily Reflection – November 22nd, 2011
THEORY CLASS
I had short quiz regarding on music theory. I couldn’t explain the definition of enharmonic. However, Mr. Herry discussed the answers of the quiz so now I know the definition of enharmonic. Then, he taught us about circle of 5th diagram and minor scales (natural, harmonic, and melodic). I was asked to construct natural, harmonic, and melodic minor scales from e, b, f#, c#, d, g, c, and f at home. However, I don’t understand the concept of natural, harmonic and melodic scales. Thus, I should do research at home before doing the work.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
I warmed up using C scale. I played C scale in quarter notes and triplets. Then, Mr. Hary checked our speed skill for C scale.
Daily Reflection – November 16th, 2011
THEORY CLASS
I learnt relative minor scale. Apparently it wasn’t difficult to understand it because to determine the relative minor scale of a major scale, we only have to see the 6th note of the major scale. I was also introduced with circle of 4th and 5th progression. In the end of theory class, I watched 2 students from each instrument class performing their composition
INSTRUMENT CLASS
I warmed up using F scale. I played the scale in quarter notes, triplets. I also tried my speed skill in F scale. Then, I practiced my composition. I still did a lot of mistakes so I need more practices.
Daily Reflection – November 15th, 2011
THEORY CLASS
I was late to come to class for 10 minutes. I can’t be late to come to class next time. Apparently, during the time when I haven’t arrived at class, my classmates and Mr. Herry were discussing about new unit planner given and assessment for term 2. Mr. Herry announced that our assessment delayed to assessment week on November 6th. However, Mr. Herry promised us to give additional score if one of our parents (of each student) comes to watch our performance during assessment week. I will ask either my mom or dad to come to school during my music assessment. After discussing about new music planner and assessment for term 2, we continued the discussion about chord progression. Mr. Herry gave some examples of chord progression on the piano.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
I practiced using A and C major scales. Apparently A scale is easier to be played than C scale. Then, I practiced using chords C – E – G – C and C – D# - G – C. I should practice playing the chords at home.
Daily Reflection – November 9th, 2011
THEORY CLASS
I discussed about chords and its progressions. Actually I still don’t understand how the chords converted to progressions, so I’ll do research on the internet. Before proceed to instrument class, I submitted my final composition and wrote its reflection.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
I practiced C and F scale. I think Mr. Hary didn’t teach us to play new scales because I still need to improve my C and F scale performance.
Daily Reflection - November 8th, 2011
THEORY CLASS
Today Ms. Elsie attended our music class. I watched my classmates did their singing assessment since they were absent last meeting. I think that they performance didn't go that well, even Ms. Elsie gave some suggestions to them. After they did their assessment, I submitted my hard copy of music composition. However, Mr. Herry asked me to add chords of my composition. I will ask my instrument teacher for help me to add the chords.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
I began the class by practicing C and F scales along with speed skill. I still haven't improved it at all. Then, I practiced Javanese and Oriental pentatonic. Since it was the first time I practiced Oriental pentatonic, I still need to practice it more at home.
Daily Reflection - November 2th, 2011
THEORY CLASS
Mr. Herry announced our music survey and western music paper score. I got 8/8 on both of them. However, Mr. Herry suggested me to give the explanation of the survey separately on each diagrams I create. Then, I had my singing assessment. It didn't go well in the end because I and my partner didn't sing the last syllable for 4 beats. Moreover, I and my partner didn't apply the voice division well. I will improve my performance if there's another singing assessment next term.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
There was no instrument class since there was asssessment on the day.
Daily Reflection - November 1st, 2011
THEORY CLASS
I submitted my observation report regarding on how music affects people's life. I think I've done it well and deserve to get maximum score. Then, I copied my 8 - bar composition into final draft template sheet. Before I proceed to instrument class, I watched my classmates singing "Indonesia Pusaka" as practice for tomorrow's assessment. Mr. Herry suggested the scales they should sing on. I should ask my instrument teacher's suggestion on the scale I should sing on.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
I practiced singing "Indonesia Pusaka" with my partner with Mr. Hary supervised us. He gave us some comments and helped us to divide the voice into voice 1 and voice 2. Besides, he told us that I and my partner should sing on C# scale. Since the assessment will be tomorrow, I should practice at home tonight.
Daily Reflection - October 26th, 2011
THEORY CLASS
I practiced singing "Indonesia Pusaka" with all of my music classmates for next week's assessment. I've memorized the song since the first time I was taught this song was is when I was in kindergarten. The only thing I have to do is divide voice for the performance into voice 1 and voice 2. I should ask for my instrument teacher's suggestion for the voice division.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
I continued practicing F scale as I did yesterday. Mr. Hary checked my speed skill in playing F scale. I feel that my speed skill isn't improved at all because I don't do a lot of practices at home. Then, I practiced playing Javanese pentatonic
Daily Reflection - October 25th, 2011
THEORY CLASS
I made my final composition by turning my 4 - bar composition into 8 - bar composition. Mr. Herry suggested some ways to convert 4 - bar composition into 8 - bar composition. First, adding new 5th - 8th composition. Second, double each of note values on the 4 - bar composition. Last, creating additional bar after each of the bar created on 4 - bar composition. However, I converted by 8 - bar composition by adding new 5th - 8th bars.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
I learnt playing F scale using flute. It was more difficult than the other scales I've learnt because it has more flat notes so that I have to learn new fingerings. I think I indeed should learn fingerings for flat and sharp notes.

#10 Practice Video - TVXQ!_東方神起 - 믿어요 (2)
This is my 2nd practice for 東方神起's 믿어요. I made mistakes on the verse and reff part but not as many as the 1st practice. I should practice for the intro part because I haven't been able to play the intro part.
#9 Practice Video - Music Composition AABA (2nd practice)
This is my 2nd practice for my own AABA format music composition. I did a lot of mistakes because I did the practice after school and I was tired. I need more practice on 9th - 12th bar because those bars contain more 1/8 notes than the other bars.
#8 Practice Video - Javanese Song
This is my video practising a Javanese song. I didn't make any mistakes on the first repetition but I made some mistakes on the beginning of second repetition. I think it was due to my nervous. Next time I have to be relax while practising.
#7 Practice Video - TVXQ!_東方神起 - 믿어요 (1)
This is my video practising Korean song, 믿어요 by 東方神起. I need more practice in playing the reff part because on the video I did a lot of mistakes on the reff part so I needed to repeat the reff part.
#6 Practice Video - Music Composition AABA (1st practice)
This is my video practicing my AABA format music composition. I did well for the 1st until 8th bar but I did some mistakes on 9th until 16th bar. I think the reason I made some mistakes because the notes on 9th until 12th bar are quite difficult to be played, but I will try my best not to make any mistakes on the next practice.
#5 Practice Video - Amazing Grace (Classical Music Performance)
This is my video while
rehearsing my classical music performance. I played song titled
"Amazing Grace" by John Newton. I didn't mispress the buttons on this
practice but I find that sometimes I didn't blow the flute well so the
voices were either not clear or too loud.
#4 Practice Video - D Major Scale and Major 7th
This is my video practising D major scale and major 7th.
There were some times when I forgot the fingerings so I stopped for a while.
Nonetheless, I didn't make any mistakes when I played D major 7th.
#3 Practice Video - A Major Scale and Major 7th
This is my video practicing A major scale in different beat, including A major 7th. In the beginning, I did a mistake while press B but for the rest I did it correctly. I need more practice in playing A major scale because it contains more flat notes than C and G scale. When I was trying to play A major 7th, I took a long time to think because I haven't prepared for it.
#2 Practice Video - C Major Scale and Major 7th
This is my video practicing C major scale in different beat,
plus C major 7th. I didn't make any mistakes on this practice but I didn't use
tounging technique thus it can seen that I have to take a breathe everytime I
press a note. I will try to use tounging technique on the next practice.
#1 Practice Video - G Major Scale and Major 7th
This is my video practising G major scale in different beat, including G major 7th. G major scale was the first scale taught in my instrument class. I played some of the notes in wrong octave. I should do more practice in equalize my breath so the notes I press won't be played in wrong octave.

Daily Reflection - October 12th, 2011
THEORY CLASS
We watched representatives from each instrument class to perform their own composition songs. We also watched some students perform their rehearsal for Binus Fiesta. Mr. Herry reminded us to come to school on Saturday to support our friends who will compete on Binus Fiesta. We were asked to come to music classroom tomorrow to take music development workbook and music sheet template for finalize our music composition.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
We practiced playing A major and F major. Both major scales weren't difficult to be played but I need more practice to gain my speed skill on playing both major scales. Then, we practiced playing a short Javanese song. I also need to practice playing the song at home.
Daily Reflection - October 11th, 2011
THEORY LESSON
Mr. Herry checked our AABA music composition homework. I need to revise the end part of my music composition because he thought that end note of a composition should be C.
Then, he checked our music reflection blog and reminded us to upload videos regarding practice and its self reflection on the topic discussed during instrument class. He also gave us examples of the videos from piano students (also live performance by them).
INSTRUMENT LESSON
Each of us had our turn to play our music composition with Mr. Hary. I did it well but I still have to do more practice at home because I did some mistakes on the 9th - 12th bar.
Daily Reflection - October 5th, 2011
THEORY CLASS
We had a short review about scale. Although scale is the most basic necessary topic in music, discussion about scale we did at class is very useful. By the discussion I memorized the interval of a scale. Then, Mr. Herry checked our melody composition homework. I need to revise my melody composition especially on the parts where it seems difficult to be played on flute. I also think that I didn't do my homework very well because I didn't try the composition on the instrument before finalize the composition. Next time I have to try the composition on the instrument before finalize it. Mr. Herry then taught us how to compose song with AABA pattern. It has a simple concept and the concept is easy to be undestood. We had homework which was compose song with AABA pattern.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
We did warm-up and Mr. Hary checked our skill in playing C major with high speed. I didn't do it very well because I still have difficulty in controlling my breathe. I have to practice more at home.
Daily Reflection - October 4th, 2011
THEORY CLASS
I performed my classical music performance. My song for classical music performance is Amazing Grace. I mispressed some notes while perform because I was nervous. I have to improve my breathing and blowing skill on the next performance. I have to create 16 bars of my own melody composition at home. I also have to upload 10 videos regarding my practice for the topics I've learnt at class.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
I had my instrument class before I came to theory class. I did warm-up with the other friends on woodwind class to prepare our classical music performance. During the time given after theory class, we practiced our speed skill in playing C major. I have to practice it at home so I will be able to play C major fastly.
Friday, September 30, 2011
Daily Reflection - September 28th, 2011
THEORY CLASS
It was our assessment day. The first ones who had their turns were piano class students, followed by violin and guitar. They did their performance well, although some of the students did some mistakes. Woodwind class students didn't have their turn on that day because the time wasn't enough. Thus, I will able to have more time to rehearse my classical music performance.
Daily Reflection - September 27th, 2011
THEORY CLASS
Before we started the lesson, Mr. Herry asked us to write the goal of attending today's meeting. My goal was to be able to play the flute more fluently than the practice I did at home a night before the class. I could satisfy my goal by rehearse by classical music performance in front of the class. I was satisfied because I didn't do any mistakes while playing the song ("Amazing Grace"), but the song is too short since I only play the first part of the song. Therefore, I have to research for the continuity of the song and practice for it so I will able to do my assessment well tomorrow.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
I didn't have instrument class because Mr. Hary didn't come to class.
Daily Reflection - September 21th, 2011
THEORY LESSON
We watched classical music performance by representatives of each instrument class. I didn't become one of the representative because I wasn't still able to play a song. Then, Mr. Herry announced music notation quiz score of some student who hasn't been announced yesterday.
INSTRUMENT LESSON
We watched classical music performance by representatives of each instrument class. I didn't become one of the representative because I wasn't still able to play a song. Then, Mr. Herry announced music notation quiz score of some student who hasn't been announced yesterday.
INSTRUMENT LESSON
I practiced playing C major by flute. Then, I practiced playing simple songs such as "Ibu Kita Kartini" and "Amazing Grace". I still haven't been able to play C major fluently so I encountered much difficulties when playing the songs. I have to practice more at home, especially to play "Amazing Grace" for classical music performance assessment.
Daily Reflection - September 20th, 2011
THEORY CLASS
We had review about the quiz we did last week, which was about major scales, dominant 7th, and major 7th chord and its inverse. Apparently, I got 50 out of 50 for the quiz. I am very happy and I will learn harder about music notation.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
I continued practice playing G major by flute. Then, I started practice playing C major. I found playing C major is more difficult than G major, but still I have to do more practice so I will be able to play both G and C major fluently.

Assessment Reflection - Western Music Presentation (September 13th, 2011)
It was my 2nd assessment in the 1st term. I did it in group and my group mates were Shafiera, Gaby, Dhanes, and Samuel Kevin.
I became the leader of the group thus I had to make sure that I and my group mates had done their job for the presentation. On this assessment, I was in charge for preparing slides for country music. I worked together with my friends in determining impact to the society of each music genres.
There were some challenges while preparing and doing the assessment. First, I confronted some difficulties in summarize the information and it was difficult to read all of the information on the internet because it took a long time. I overcame the problem by read the information which I thought is important and needed to be told during the presentation.
I also had difficulties in determine the impact of society of country music because at first I couldn't find the information about impact of country music on the society on the internet. During the presentation of other group which happened to be before my groud did, Mr. Herry has mentioned that one of impact of country music to the society is at first country music could affect people to commit suicide. Thus, at home I did research for the suicide commited by people after listening to country music song.
Although we were late in performing out presentation (since the presentation should be done in September), because my group has seen the other groups' performance, we could do the presentation well. Our group could fulfill all the subtopics which have to be presented during the presentation. I was nervous while present the presentation and I think the audiences could see it obviously that I was nervous.
By doing this assessment, I can get much information about western music, especially country music. I also learnt that each music genre has different impacts to the society. By doing this assessment I also get to know about names of composers, musicians, and music instruments which I didn't know before.
Daily Reflection - September 14th, 2011
THEORY CLASS
We had quiz about major scales, major 7th chord and its inversion and dominant 7th. I did it well although at first I didn't really understand about anything at class because I did research for major scales, major 7th and dominant 7th chord last night. I also did exercise sheet given by Mr Herry the day before the test which has the exactly same questions as today's test.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
We practiced playing G major by flute. I didn't play it fluently but at least I could play it. I have to practice playing G major at home.
Daily Reflection - September 13th, 2011
THEORY CLASS
We had review about major 7th chord and its inversion. I've understood the major 7th chords but I haven't understood the inversion. Mr. Herry gave us an exercise paper to be done at home because there will be a quiz on the next day. Tonight, I have to learn about the inversion and review about the major 7th chord thus I will be able to do the quiz well.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
I didn't attend instrument class because I had to present my group's western music presentation in front of the piano class students. Explanation further about our western music presentation will be written later on the other post.
Daily Reflection - September 7th, 2011
THEORY CLASS
It was the first music class after holiday. We learnt about major 7th chords and its inversion. I didn't really understand about it because I haven't even memorized the major scales. I will ask my friends to explain further and do some research for major scales and major 7th chords.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
We practiced playing "Mary had a little lamb" song. I didn't play it really well because I still have some difficulties in blowing the flute. I will practice playing the song at home.
Sunday, August 28, 2011
Daily Reflection - August 24th, 2011
THEORY CLASS
Mr. Herry came to class so we continued our Western Music presentation assessment. I was very disappointed because my group couldn't have our return on this meeting so we had to present our Western Music presentation assessment after Idul Fitri holiday. Well, at least we have more time to prepare our presentation. I hope our presentation after the holiday will be very satisfying.
Daily Reflection - August 23rd, 2011
THEORY LESSON
Mr. Herry didn't come to class so we couldn't continue our Western music assessment. Instead, we discussed about major scale and chord major. I haven't memorized major scales and chord major scales so when I was asked about E major scale I couldn't determine which notes have flats. I have to memorize major scales and chord major scales at home.
INSTRUMENT LESSON
We practiced abdominal breathing and blowing the flute/saxophone. I blew the flute better than the previous meeting. Then, Mr. Hary told us about his experience while having performance in India. It was very interesting although his days in India seem not very well. I hope someday, when my flute performance becomes better, I will also be invited to perform abroad.
Daily Reflection - August 17th + August 18th, 2011
There was no music class on August 17th because of Independence Day, but assembly was held on August 18th so grade 10 music class students led the other students sing "Indonesia Raya", "Hari Merdeka", and "Berkibarlah Benderaku". I wasn't nervous at all and it went well. I think it was a good chance for show my national song singing performance because the last time I performed national song singing performance was when I was on elementary school.
Daily Reflection - August 16th, 2011
THEORY LESSON
Group 1 and 2 had their Western Music presentation assessment. I think they did well although some students didn't prepare their palm cards so they didn't present their presentation fluently. The good thing for my group is, since our group is the 4th group, we would have the presentation on the following week (since August 17th is holiday) so we can have more time to prepare the presentation.
We rehearsed singing "Hari Merdeka" and "Berkibarlah Benderaku" for assembly. I didn't have difficulties because I've memorized the song since I was in kindergarten.
Daily Reflection - August 10th, 2011
THEORY LESSON
We gathered with our group mates and I became the group leader. We decided each job for Western Music presentation assessment. Gaby got classical music, I got country music, Shafiera got jazz, Samuel Kevin got pop rock and Dhanes got rock & roll. After the groups decided each group member job, the group leaders had to stand in front of the class and tell the class about each of their members job for the presentation. We will start the assessment on the following week. We also continued the music assessment performance.
Daily Reflection - August 9th, 2011
THEORY LESSON
We continued the individual singing assessment. Then, Mr. Herry divided us into 5 groups which each group consists 5 people. I am in a group with Shafiera, Gaby, Dhanes, and Samuel Kevin. On the next day, we had to present the outline research about Western music.
INSTRUMENT LESSON
I practiced blowing the flute. Because I've watched the tutorial video, I become able to blow the flute though sometimes when I blew the flute it didn't work. We practiced out breathe so that we can blow the flute/saxophone for a long time. Mr. Hary asked us to do abdominal breathing instead of chest breathing.
Assessment Reflection - Western Song Individual Singing (August 3rd, 2011)
Hehe, this is what I've been waiting for. I did my first assessment and it was individual singing. Since singing is my hobby, I think it wouldn't be difficult to do the assessment and write the reflection here.
The song I chose to sing is "One Last Cry", originally sung by Brian McKnight. I didn't choose this song because I'm a big fan of Brian McKnight, but because a member of my favorite Korean pop group, Park "Micky" Yoochun from TVXQ!, sang this song on TVXQ! 2nd Asia tour concert. Here are the videos of the original singer and Park Yoochun sang the song. Which one is better? Park Yoochun for sure!
Brian McKnight - One Last Cry
Micky Yoochun - One Last Cry (TVXQ! 2nd Asia Tour Concert)
This song is about a person who is broken heart after seeing his/her lover being with someone else (cheat her/him) and he/she was going to left his/her lover but he/she poured his/her last cry before he/she leaves his/her lover. This song suits people who are going to break up with his/her girl/boyfriend or even broke up already.
I didn't do any important preparation for this assessment. I downloaded the instrument version of this song on the day Mr. Herry announced this assessment. I rehearsed this song everytime I could - when I had nothing to do, when I was in the car, and even when I was taking a shower! The weakness of my preparation was I didn't rehearse my song in front of other people.
Thankfully, the assessment went well. I almost forgot some parts of the lyrics because I was nervous after seeing my friends who had their turn before me sang very well. I could sing with following the instrument song well. A friend of mine recorded my performance but I haven't asked her for the video. I will upload the video as soon as I get the video from her.
If I had another chance to perform my individual singing, I would rehearse it in front of other people so I could listen comments from the others about my singing. I also wish that I could sing Asian songs because I love songs from Asian artists.
Daily Reflection - August 3rd, 2011
THEORY CLASS
Today, we did our individual singing assessment. I had my turn and as I've planned, I sang "One Last Cry" by Brian McKnight. I was nervous because I saw the other friends who had their turn before me sang really well (though some of them in my opinion didn't sing well). Thankfully my turn went well.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
For the first time, I blew my flute. I didn't work because I haven't watched the tutorial video Mr. Hary asked us to watch. After my failure in blowing the flute on this meeting, I keep practice blowing the flute everyday both at home and at car during the way to home from school.
Daily Reflection - August 2nd, 2011
THEORY CLASS
Mr. Herry gave us handouts about 7th chord and intervals. Then, we discussed about 7th chord. In the end of the class, we confirmed song title for individual assessment. I chose "One Last Cry" by Brian McKnight.
Daily Reflection - July 28th, 2011
THEORY CLASS
Mr. Herry asked us to sing "Proud Binusians" song. Since the new students haven't memorized the lyrics, he let the new students to look at the lyrics text in the journal. The old students stood in front of the class and helped us so that we, the new students, would be able to memorize the song easily. Actually this song isn't difficult to be memorized so now I can sing the whole "Proud Binusians" song.
Next, Mr. Herry let us know about our short (music notation) test result. I got most of my answers wrong. Mr. Herry mentioned the students who got all answers correct and asked them to stand up. He asked the students who haven't memorized major scale and major triad to ask the ones he mentioned to helped them. After that, we discussed about major scale and major triad, which are the things asked on the short test.
We had tasks to be done; rehearse "Bagimu Negeri" and "Hari Merdeka" and prepare for Western Song individual singing. So, firstly I had to decided the song I will sing and then rehearse it. I only have to rehearse singing "Bagimu Negeri" and "Hari Merdeka" because I've memorized it since I was in kindergarten.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
There wasn't long time for instrument class so Mr. Hary only confirmed instruments to be played by each student.
Daily Reflection - July 27th, 2011
THEORY CLASS
It was my first time being at music class. First, Mr. Herry wrote students' instrument class allocation. I thought I wouldn't get instrument class because I didn't do well on the audition in April. Apparently, I was put in woodwind class. I was really excited! I promise that I will work hard!!! :D
Next, the new students were asked to stand in front of the class and introduce themselves. Each of the new students had to mention their name, previous school, home address, hobby, and music instruments they play. I am new student so I also had to do it. It wasn't difficult to be done.
Then, Mr. Herry gave us unit planner paper and we discussed about it. He also told us what to bring to music class. Thus, I bought everything he asked us to bring to class right after I left the school.
This part was the tense one - we had a short test about music notation. This test was exactly the same as the test I had during the audition and I was sure that I did this test well during the audition but (sadly) I've forgotten everything about music notation since then, so I left the theory class with (a bit) embarrassement.
INSTRUMENT CLASS
We did introduction and Mr. Hary showed us a video of saxophone show. Then, Mr. Hary asked the students to enter their data on his PC and we had to decided what instrument each student is going to play. I decided to play flute.
